About Us...
Rough and Tumble Theatre Company was created in late 2007 by Emma McCulloch and Fi Parrey. We create what we want to see in life (or at least in the theatre); silly, energetic romps, with plenty of pratfalls and loads of pashing. It would be lovely to suggest that our shows are layered with meaning (like an onion); resonant with political commentary and social dissection, but we dont want to lie to you. We care too much about you to do that. But if escapist revelry is your thing and you like to leave a theatre feeling pretty good about stuff then were your gals!
Working predominantly with classic texts, the Rough and Tumble way is to edit and adapt them, adding a healthy splash of physicality, irreverent pop music and plenty of impro on the night, making them fresh, fun and relevant.
